How to measure for a collar

Connecting a Lambwolf MELLEM leash to an Ava collar

Collar sizing is based on your dog's neck circumference, not their weight or breed. Take an accurate measurement first — then choose the size that fits comfortably within the collar's range.

Step 01

With your dog standing, wrap a soft tape measure around their neck at the point where the collar will sit — usually midway down the neck.

Step 02

Add 5cm (2 inches) to your measurement. This is the comfort allowance — enough room for two fingers between the collar and neck.

Step 03

Match that final number to a size in the chart below. Choose the size whose range comfortably accommodates your adjusted measurement.

For the Ava Martingale: sizing accounts for the martingale loop. Follow the same measurement steps — the collar will fit correctly within the stated range. For a looser feel or extra comfort, size up by one.
For the Fossil Paracord: sizing is fixed — there is no adjustment. Measure carefully and choose the size that matches your dog's neck plus the 5cm comfort allowance exactly.
