Rei Connector

One small piece that does a lot. The REI Connector is a waterproof, dual-clasp leash connector built for walkers who like options. Use it to extend an existing leash, wrap it hands-free around a bag strap or belt, tether your dog to a fixed point, or pair it with the MELLEM Convertible Leash for a complete hands-free walking setup.

Made from 100% waterproof, odour-proof vinyl-coated nylon with auto-locking 360° swivel carabiners at both ends, box-X stitching at every stress point, and rust-resistant hardware. Available in narrow (2cm) and wide (2.5cm) at $35 — both in 6 colourways.

As a leash extension — clip the REI Connector between two leashes to create a longer lead for open spaces or recall training.

As a hands-free wrap — loop around your waist, shoulder, or bag strap and clip your dog's leash to the free end. Your hands stay free.

As a tether — clip one end to a fixed anchor (cafe table leg, bench, stroller frame) and the other to your dog's leash for a secure hold when you need both hands.

Both widths are suitable for dogs up to 18kg and share the same auto-locking swivel carabiners. Choose Narrow (2cm) for smaller dogs or if you prefer a lighter, slimmer profile. Choose Wide (2.5cm) for medium dogs or if you want a more substantial feel in the hand. If in doubt, match the width to your existing leash.

Wipe clean with a damp cloth. The vinyl-coated nylon dries quickly and will not absorb moisture, mud, or odour. For a deeper clean, hand wash with a mild, pet-safe detergent and air dry fully.

What does the REI Connector clip to?
Both swivel clasps fit standard leash hardware — harness rings, collar D-rings, carabiners, bag straps, stroller frames, and the Lambwolf MELLEM. If it has a standard ring or loop, the REI Connector will clip on.

Can I use the REI Connector without the MELLEM?
Yes — the REI Connector works as a standalone connector. Use it to extend an existing leash, create a hands-free wrap, or tether your dog to a fixed point. Pairing with the MELLEM unlocks the full hands-free system, but it is not required.

Which width should I choose?
