Yeast overgrowth in dogs manifests in many ways — brownish discolouration around the lips, paws, or groin, brown gunk or recurring infections in the ears, a yeasty odour (dirty socks or stale cheese), chronic itching, skin thickening or darkening, and recurring hot spots. These are symptoms of a systemic yeast imbalance — not a surface problem. The Yeasty Beast Protocol addresses yeast at the root, preparing the body's detoxification organs first, then targeting the yeast itself, then breaking down and clearing the dead yeast without causing a toxic die-off crisis.

Liver Tonic (60ml liquid)
The first step — the liver, kidneys, pancreas, and gallbladder must be prepared and supported before the yeast clearance begins. As yeast dies off, it releases toxins into the bloodstream. The Liver Tonic ensures the body's primary detoxification organs are functioning optimally to process and remove those toxins efficiently. Active ingredients: Organic Dandelion Root (Taraxacum officinalis), Organic Greater Celandine (Chelidonium majus), Organic Milk Thistle (Cardus marianus), Organic Barberry (Berberis vulgaris). Inactive: Organic Vegetable Glycerin, Water.
Yeasty Beast I — Homeopathic Combination (60ml liquid)
A homeopathic tincture specifically designed to target the skin — addressing the itch sensation, supporting detoxification, and aiding toxin removal while simultaneously supporting overall immune health. Introduced 3 days after starting the Liver Tonic. Active ingredients: Sulphur 30X, Berberis Vulgaris 12C, Echinacea 12C, Graphites 12C, Nux Vomica 12C. Inactive: Organic Ethanol 15%, Purified Water, Vegetable Non-GMO Glycerin.
Yeasty Beast II — Nutraceutical Powder (69g)
An enzyme, probiotic, and herbal blend methodically designed to target yeast while avoiding an intense Herxheimer die-off reaction. The formula breaks down and clears dead yeast from the body using digestive enzymes and specific antifungal herbal compounds. Introduced 3 days after starting Yeasty Beast I. Must be given on an empty stomach, 2 hours before or after meals — the digestive enzymes need to work on the yeast, not food. Active ingredients: Enzyme Probiotic Blend, Pau d'Arco, MCT (Medium Chain Triglycerides), Caprylic Acid (from Magnesium Caprylate), Saccharomyces boulardii (20 Billion CFU).
Yeast overgrowth is frequently misdiagnosed or treated only at the surface level. Common signs include:
Brownish discolouration or staining around the lips, paws, groin, or armpits. Brown, waxy, or smelly discharge in the ears — recurring ear infections. A distinct yeasty odour — often described as dirty socks, stale corn chips, or old cheese. Chronic itching, scratching, or paw licking that does not respond to conventional treatment. Skin thickening, darkening (hyperpigmentation), or elephant-skin texture. Recurring hot spots or skin infections. Digestive issues including loose stools or gas.
If your dog has ever been diagnosed with yeast in the ears or on the skin, or has any of the above signs, the Yeasty Beast Protocol should precede the Leaky Gut Protocol. Yeast almost always co-exists with leaky gut — but clearing the yeast first is essential before beginning gut repair.
How the Protocol Works — Step by StepThe protocol is introduced gradually — one product at a time, 3 days apart — to allow the body to adjust and avoid triggering an overwhelming yeast die-off.

Give Yeasty Beast II 2 hours before or after a normal meal. The digestive enzymes in the formula must work on breaking down the dead yeast — not the food. Mix with a small amount of plain unsweetened yogurt, kefir, raw milk, goat milk, or bone broth to aid acceptance. Do not give with a full meal.
Once yeast die-off is complete, the gut will need rebuilding. Yeast is deeply damaging to the intestinal lining — almost every dog with yeast overgrowth will also have some degree of leaky gut. After completing the Yeasty Beast Protocol, transition to the Leaky Gut Protocol for dogs or the Small Dog Leaky Gut Protocol for dogs under 20 lbs. At minimum, add Love Bugs as a daily probiotic to help restore and maintain healthy gut flora and keep yeast levels in check long-term.

What is a Herxheimer reaction and how does this protocol avoid it?
A Herxheimer reaction — also called a die-off reaction — occurs when yeast cells die en masse and release a flood of toxins into the bloodstream simultaneously. Symptoms include lethargy, skin flare-ups, loose stools, and general malaise — it can look like the yeast is getting worse. The Yeasty Beast Protocol avoids this by introducing products gradually, 3 days apart, giving the liver and detox organs time to process each wave of toxins before the next stage begins.
What if my dog's symptoms get worse during the protocol?
A mild worsening can occur, particularly with heavy yeast overgrowth. If this happens, stop Yeasty Beast II and monitor for 3–5 days to allow the body to clear the built-up waste. Once things have calmed, restart Yeasty Beast II at half the recommended dose. Continue using Liver Tonic and Yeasty Beast I throughout — they help process the toxins released during die-off.
Do I need to stop probiotics or digestive enzymes during the protocol?
Yes — Adored Beast Apothecary recommends not continuing other probiotics or digestive enzymes while using the Yeasty Beast Protocol. The formula works in a specific way in the body and other probiotics or enzymes can interfere with its action. Resume probiotics once the protocol is complete.
Can I continue my dog's allergy medications during the protocol?
Do not stop prescription medications without veterinary approval. The protocol can generally be used alongside medications. Always inform your veterinarian of all supplements your dog is receiving. If your dog is on ongoing allergy medications such as Apoquel or Atopica, discuss a gradual reduction plan with your vet — continuing immunosuppressant medications will continue to damage the gut environment.
What should I do after the protocol is complete?
Transition to the Leaky Gut Protocol to address the gut damage yeast has caused. At minimum, add Love Bugs as a daily probiotic to restore healthy gut flora and prevent yeast from returning.
