Collagen is Four Leaf Rover's single-ingredient joint and connective tissue supplement for dogs — 100% grass-fed, pasture-raised New Zealand beef collagen, with a naturally occurring minimum of 40% Type II collagen and 20% chondroitin sulfate. No fillers, no flavourings, no binders, no synthetics. Just hydrolysed beef collagen in its most bioavailable form, enhanced with freeze-dried beef liver for palatability.

Collagen supplements broadly come from two sources: marine (fish, fish skin, fish scales) and bovine (beef). Both deliver collagen, but the profiles are different — and for dogs specifically, bovine collagen is the more complete choice.

Marine collagen is primarily Type I collagen — excellent for skin, hair, and some soft tissue, but less relevant for joint cartilage. It also carries higher risk of heavy metal and environmental contaminant exposure, depending on sourcing. Bovine collagen, by contrast, contains both Type I AND Type II collagen — the two types that together form the structural matrix of cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and bone. It also naturally contains chondroitin sulfate, hyaluronic acid, and cartilage-derived growth factors that support joint repair and resilience over time. For a dog's joint and connective tissue support, bovine collagen is functionally more complete than marine.

Bovine Cartilage Extract. Rich in naturally occurring Type II collagen and chondroitin sulfate — the two compounds most directly responsible for cartilage structure and function.

Cartilage-Derived Growth Factors (CDGFs). Natural compounds that support tissue repair and help strengthen joint resilience over time. These are present in whole-food collagen sources but stripped out of most processed collagen isolates.
