Feline Gut Soothe is a cat-specific gut health supplement — a proprietary blend of gut-healing herbs, amino acids, and a 14-strain, 15 Billion CFU probiotic base, formulated to soothe and replenish the lining of the bowel, rebalance gut flora, and support digestive, respiratory, and bladder health in cats. Developed by Adored Beast Apothecary founder Julie Anne Lee, DCH RCSHom, it is based on the canine Gut Soothe formula with two key modifications: aloe vera has been removed (unsuitable for cats in the canine dose), and natural beef liver flavour has been added for palatability — because cats are cats.
Feline Gut Soothe is suitable for cats aged 6 months and over. It is particularly effective for hairballs, vomiting, loose stools, constipation, diet transitioning, IBD, sneezing, and bladder flare-ups — all conditions rooted in inflammation of the mucosal lining of the digestive, respiratory, and urinary tracts. 46g tub.
Add to food once daily according to your cat's body weight. Administer at mealtime to reduce the chance of gastrointestinal upset. If your cat is on medications, give Feline Gut Soothe 1–2 hours after the medication dose. Refrigerate after opening for optimal freshness — freeze-dried, so refrigeration is not strictly required but is recommended. Safe use in pregnant animals or animals intended for breeding has not been proven. Not for use in cats under 6 months. If your cat's condition worsens or does not improve within 10 days, discontinue use and consult your veterinarian. Not for human consumption. Keep out of reach of children and other animals. How It Works — Gut Lining Repair and Flora SupportFeline Gut Soothe works on two levels simultaneously. The herbal and amino acid ingredients — Slippery Elm Bark, Marshmallow Root, L-Glutamine, DGL Licorice, and N-Acetyl Glucosamine — coat and soothe irritated mucosal membranes throughout the digestive, respiratory, and urinary tracts, physically protecting damaged tissue from further irritation and supporting the body's natural repair process. The probiotic and prebiotic base — 15 Billion CFU across 14 strains, with Larch Arabinogalactan as prebiotic — repopulates the gut with beneficial bacteria, inhibits yeast and pathogen growth, and supports immune function from the gut up. Liver Glandular is also included to support palatability and liver function.
Specifically Formulated for CatsFeline Gut Soothe is not the canine Gut Soothe in a smaller dose — it is a separate formulation. Aloe vera, which features in the canine formula, has been removed as it is not appropriate for cats in the canine concentration. Natural beef liver flavour has been added because cats are highly scent-driven and will often refuse supplements they cannot smell — the liver flavour significantly improves acceptance. Start at the lower end of the recommended dose for the first 1–2 weeks and gradually work up to the full daily amount, particularly for cats who are sensitive to new supplements.

It is a separate formulation, not a smaller dose of the canine product. Aloe vera has been removed — it is not appropriate for cats in the canine concentration. Natural beef liver flavour has been added for palatability. The CFU count is 15 Billion per serving, calibrated for a cat's smaller digestive system. Do not substitute the canine Gut Soothe for this product.
My cat is fussy — will she eat it?
The natural beef liver flavour makes Feline Gut Soothe significantly more palatable than unflavoured supplements. Some cats are still reluctant initially — start at the lower end of the dose (⅛ tsp regardless of weight) for the first 1–2 weeks to allow your cat to get used to it, then increase gradually to the full recommended amount. Mixing into a small amount of wet food or bone broth can help.
How long should I use Feline Gut Soothe?
For any health issue, a minimum of 6 weeks is recommended — the body needs approximately 6 weeks to process a full healing response. For chronic conditions (issues lasting over a year or heavily medicated), long-term use is often appropriate. Many cats stay on it indefinitely because they feel noticeably better. Once symptoms resolve, rotate with Love Bugs or Healthy Gut for ongoing gut maintenance.
Do I stop giving other probiotics?
It is not necessary to stop existing probiotics immediately — gradually wean off rather than stopping abruptly. Be mindful that Feline Gut Soothe is already a powerful probiotic formula at 15 Billion CFU. Combining with another probiotic may cause loose stools.
Can I use Feline Gut Soothe alongside medications?
Give at least 1–2 hours apart from any prescription medication. The mucilage in marshmallow root and slippery elm can form a protective coating over the gut lining which may slow the absorption of medications given simultaneously. If concerned, dispense in a small amount of bone broth or kefir separately from the medication dose. Always consult your veterinarian if your cat is on ongoing medication.
Is it safe for cats with a shellfish allergy?
No — N-Acetyl Glucosamine is derived from shellfish (shrimp, crab). If your cat has a confirmed shellfish allergy, do not use this product. Note that shellfish allergy and fish allergy are different — a fish allergy alone does not preclude use, but always consult your veterinarian if unsure.
Can Feline Gut Soothe help with bladder issues?
Yes. The mucosal-lining herbs in the formula — Slippery Elm, Marshmallow Root, L-Glutamine, and NAG — support the health of the mucosal membranes throughout the body, including the bladder and urinary tract. Feline Gut Soothe is commonly used alongside conventional bladder treatment for cats with recurrent cystitis or urinary tract inflammation.
