Canine Gut Soothe is a veterinarian-formulated digestive health supplement for dogs — a proprietary blend of a 30 Billion CFU multi-strain probiotic, prebiotics, and select herbs including slippery elm, L-glutamine, marshmallow root, and aloe vera. Developed by Adored Beast Apothecary founder Julie Anne Lee, DCH RCSHom, drawing on over 30 years of clinical experience in integrative and homeopathic veterinary medicine.
Gut Soothe supports a healthy intestinal tract, normal digestive function, proper gut flora balance, and a healthy inflammatory response. Particularly well suited to dogs experiencing occasional loose stools due to dietary changes, environmental stress, antibiotic recovery, or ongoing digestive sensitivity. Available in 52g (trial size) and 153g.
Usage & safety notes.
Administer during or after meals to reduce the chance of gastrointestinal upset. Refrigerate after opening. Not for human consumption. Keep out of reach of children and other animals.
30 Billion CFU — A Probiotic With Clinical Weight Behind It
Each serving delivers 30 Billion Colony Forming Units across 14 strains of beneficial bacteria, including multiple Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium species. A well-populated gut microbiome supports immunity, digestive function, stool consistency, and the ability to recover from stress, illness, or antibiotic use.
Slippery Elm Bark — The Master Demulcent
Slippery elm bark produces a gel-like mucilage on contact with water that coats and soothes the mucosal lining of the digestive tract. Gut Soothe includes slippery elm in two forms — standard bark powder (220mg) and a concentrated 4:1 extract (80mg) — for layered action throughout the gastrointestinal tract.
L-Glutamine — The Gut Lining's Preferred Fuel
L-Glutamine (250mg) is the primary energy source for the cells lining the intestinal wall. It supports the integrity of the gut mucosa, promotes normal mucosal repair, and underpins a healthy inflammatory response — especially relevant for dogs with leaky gut, chronic loose stools, or gut wall compromise from long-term medication use.
Marshmallow Root — Protecting the Gut Wall
Marshmallow root 4:1 extract (100mg) forms a protective coating over irritated mucosal membranes, soothing inflamed tissue and creating the conditions the gut wall needs to heal. Because this mucilage can affect absorption of other substances, Gut Soothe is best given 1–2 hours away from medications.
Larch Arabinogalactan — Prebiotic Fuel for Good Bacteria
Larch arabinogalactan (500mg) is a polysaccharide fibre that acts as food for the beneficial bacteria in the probiotic blend, helping them establish and proliferate in the gut. It also supports normal colon health and a healthy immune response.
DGL Licorice & Aloe Vera — Gastric Mucosal Support
Deglycyrrhizinated licorice (375mg) — safe for long-term use — supports the gastric mucosa by improving circulation, stimulating the secretion of a protective mucosal layer, and encouraging new mucosal cell growth. Aloe vera 200:1 extract (5mg) contributes amino acids, enzymes, vitamin C, and a range of minerals in concentrated form.
N-Acetyl Glucosamine — Gut Lining Structural Support
N-acetyl glucosamine (300mg) contributes to the structural integrity of the mucosal lining of the gut, supporting the repair and maintenance of healthy connective tissue throughout the gastrointestinal tract.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long should I use Gut Soothe before expecting results?
A minimum of 6 weeks is recommended. The body typically requires this timeframe to process a full healing response. For dogs with chronic conditions — issues present for over a year or heavily medicated — rotating Gut Soothe with Love Bugs or Healthy Gut is often recommended. Many dogs do well on Gut Soothe long-term.
My dog is already on a probiotic. Should I stop when I start Gut Soothe?
You do not need to stop abruptly, but be mindful of total probiotic load. Gut Soothe delivers 30 Billion CFU per serving — which is already therapeutic-grade. Too many probiotics can cause loose stools. Wean off the existing probiotic gradually over several days and rely on Gut Soothe as the primary source.
What is the difference between Gut Soothe, Love Bugs, Fido's Flora, and Healthy Gut?
All four products share the same 14-strain probiotic base. Here is how they differ:

Can I give Gut Soothe alongside my dog's medications?
Do not give Gut Soothe to dogs on anticoagulant drugs. For all other medications, give Gut Soothe 1–2 hours after the drug. The mucilage from marshmallow root and slippery elm can temporarily slow absorption of other substances. If in doubt, administer Gut Soothe in bone broth or kefir, clearly separated from medications, and consult your veterinarian.
Should I keep giving Gut Soothe after symptoms improve?
Yes — complete a minimum of 6 weeks even if symptoms resolve earlier. Stopping too soon risks the underlying issue returning. For dogs with chronic or recurrent digestive issues, long-term use — or rotation with Healthy Gut or Love Bugs — gives the most sustained results.
Is Gut Soothe safe for puppies?
Gut Soothe is formulated for adult dogs. If you have a puppy with digestive concerns, consult your veterinarian for guidance on appropriate use and dosing for younger dogs.
