Potent-Sea Omega-3 is a concentrated algae-based EPA and DHA oil for dogs and cats — sourced from Schizochytrium sp. microalgae grown on land in controlled fermentation tanks, completely free from heavy metals, microplastics, solvents, and pesticides. It delivers the same omega-3 benefits as fish oil without the environmental cost, the contamination risk, or the impact on ocean ecosystems.

Fish don't make omega-3s — they get them from eating algae. Potent-Sea goes directly to the source. Schizochytrium sp. is a microalgae native to some marine coastal areas, known for exceptionally high DHA and EPA content. Adored Beast Apothecary grows it in closed fermentation tanks on land, completely isolated from ocean contaminants including heavy metals, microplastics, and pesticides that routinely affect fish oil products.
The extraction uses a water-based process — no chemical solvents, no heat — preserving the full integrity of the fatty acids and associated beneficial compounds. EPA & DHA — Why These Specific Omega-3s MatterNot all omega-3 fatty acids are equal. ALA (found in hemp seed oil and flaxseed) must be converted by the body into EPA and DHA before it can be used — and dogs and cats convert ALA very inefficiently, making it a poor source of usable omega-3. EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) are the biologically active forms the body uses directly, without conversion, to support inflammation regulation, brain function, heart health, joint lubrication, skin barrier integrity, and coat quality. Vitamin E & High-Oleic Sunflower Oil — Absorption & StabilityPotent-Sea includes two supporting ingredients that distinguish it from bare algae oil. High-oleic sunflower oil (31.9mg) is a heart-healthy carrier oil rich in monounsaturated fats and resistant to oxidation, providing a stable base that extends shelf life and supports the delivery of the omega-3s. Mixed tocopherols (2.1mg) — a natural form of vitamin E — serve a dual purpose: they help prevent oxidation of the EPA and DHA during storage and within the body, and they facilitate the safe, effective absorption of the fatty acids. Ascorbyl palmitate (0.3mg), a fat-soluble form of vitamin C, provides additional antioxidant protection. How does Potent-Sea compare to phytoplankton?
Phytoplankton (such as Adored Beast Apothecary's Vital Defense) contains omega-3s but at much lower concentrations than Potent-Sea. Phytoplankton's primary value is as a whole-food source of minerals, amino acids, and superoxide dismutase (a powerful antioxidant). Potent-Sea is the better choice when the primary goal is meaningful EPA and DHA supplementation. Both can be used together as complementary products.
Does Potent-Sea contain vitamin E?
Yes — mixed tocopherols (a natural form of vitamin E) are included. Vitamin E is essential for the safe absorption and utilisation of omega-3 fatty acids and helps prevent oxidation of EPA and DHA both in the bottle and within the body. This means you do not need to add supplemental vitamin E when using Potent-Sea.
Is the algae a plant or animal?
Neither. Schizochytrium sp. is a microalgae — a single-celled organism found in some marine coastal areas. It is not a plant, not an animal, and not a fish. It is the original source of the omega-3s that fish accumulate by eating algae in the ocean.
What happens to the waste from production?
