Onix is a Level 1 Pawzler puzzle piece with a single treat-hiding compartment and a sliding lid with a built-in hole — occupying two spots on the Base. The hole lets dogs detect the scent of the treat before they solve the puzzle, building anticipation and motivation. Dogs push the lid open to access the reward beneath.
How It Works
Onix's sliding lid has a small hole that sits directly above the treat compartment. Before dogs have solved anything, they can already smell what is inside — the scent comes through the hole and encourages them to engage. To access the treat, dogs push the lid horizontally using their nose, tongue, or paw until it slides open and reveals the compartment below. The scent detection step makes the solve feel earned rather than accidental, which is particularly effective for dogs who are new to puzzle play and need motivation to keep trying.
Fill the compartment with small treats, or include Onix as one of several Pawzles in a spread-meal configuration to slow down eating and turn mealtime into playtime.
Compatibility
Onix clips into any Pawzler Base and is compatible with all Pawzles and Bases in the range. A Base is required — Onix cannot be used without one. Onix is included in the Beginner Set and the Rainbow Set. Its compact two-spot footprint makes it easy to add to any configuration without taking up significant Base space.

Pawzler is an enrichment toy — not a chew toy. Always supervise play, particularly if your dog is prone to chewing. The moment chewing starts, calmly end the session and remove the puzzle. Return it only once your dog is calm and ready to problem-solve again. Pawzler pieces damaged through chewing are not covered under warranty.
