Fido's Flora is the first biologically species-specific probiotic formulated exclusively for dogs — a multi-strain probiotic blend featuring two patented canine-derived probiotic strains (K9-1 and K9-2), a 14-strain base probiotic blend, prebiotic larch arabinogalactan, and the ancient organic minerals humic and fulvic acid. The K9-1 and K9-2 strains were identified, cultivated, and patented specifically from dogs — they do not exist in any other probiotic product on the market.
Developed by Adored Beast Apothecary founder Julie Anne Lee, DCH RCSHom, in collaboration with researchers and scientists who identified and cultivated two focal canine-derived probiotic species to do things generic probiotics cannot. Fido's Flora is particularly recommended during and after antibiotic use, and for dogs with recurrent digestive issues, allergies, immune challenges, or exposure to environmental toxins. For dogs only. Available in 40g and 80g. Refrigerate after opening.
Usage & safety notes.

K9-1 & K9-2 — The World's First Patented Canine-Specific Probiotic Strains
The defining feature of Fido's Flora is something no other probiotic product on the market offers: two probiotic strains — Lactobacillus casei K9-1 and Lactobacillus fermentum K9-2 — that were specifically identified and cultivated from dogs, then patented. These are not generic probiotic strains that happen to work in dogs; they are strains native to the canine gut, selected by researchers for what they do uniquely in a dog's digestive system.
The K9 strains were chosen specifically to: strengthen the dog's immune system at the gut level; keep the gastrointestinal tract calm during times of stress; produce metabolites that fight against harmful bacteria including E. coli and Salmonella; improve the availability and uptake of nutrients from the diet; improve production of neurotransmitters in the brain (the gut-brain axis); and survive passage through stomach acid to work in the small intestine.
2 Billion CFU Multi-Strain Base — The Love Bugs Foundation
The K9 strains are combined with the same 14-strain probiotic base found in Adored Beast Apothecary's Love Bugs formula — 2 Billion CFU of allergen-free, lactic acid-producing bacteria from both Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium families. Lactic acid bacteria inhibit yeast growth by lowering intestinal pH and block the adhesion sites of pathogens, creating a barrier against infectious organisms while repopulating the digestive system with beneficial bacteria.
Larch Arabinogalactan — Prebiotic Fuel for the Probiotic Blend
Larch arabinogalactan (700mg per serving) is a polysaccharide fibre from the larch tree that acts as a prebiotic — feeding and supporting the viability of the probiotic strains in this formula. Beyond its prebiotic function, larch is used as an adjunct to cancer therapies for its ability to stimulate the immune system and support the blocking of tumour cell metastasis. It also supports colon health and normal immune response.
Humic & Fulvic Acid — Mineral Support & Heavy Metal Removal
Humic and fulvic acids (558mg per serving) are ancient organic mineral compounds dug from deep in the earth — and the reason Fido's Flora has a characteristically dark colour. They provide trace minerals, antioxidants, and phytochemicals in bioavailable form. Humic acid fights inflammation and promotes efficient food absorption. Fulvic acid increases cell membrane permeability, allowing a greater body of nutrients to enter cells, and supports the body's natural process of removing toxic minerals and heavy metals. In a world where dogs are increasingly exposed to environmental toxins through food, water, and their environment, this detoxification function is a meaningful addition to a daily probiotic.
The Probiotic to Use During & After Antibiotics
Antibiotics do not discriminate — they destroy beneficial gut bacteria alongside the pathogens they target. Fido's Flora is the Adored Beast Apothecary probiotic most recommended for use during and after antibiotic treatment. The K9-1 and K9-2 strains are specifically chosen for their ability to survive stomach acid and reach the small intestine intact, repopulating the gut with canine-native beneficial bacteria while the microbiome recovers from antibiotic disruption. Probiotic rotation is recommended for general health, but Fido's Flora is the one to reach for when antibiotics are involved.
Conditions Fido's Flora May Support
Digestive issues — loose stools, vomiting, inconsistent digestion. Allergies — insatiable itching, paw licking, sneezing. Hot spots and recurring skin conditions. Autoimmune disease. Organ disease. Recovery during and after antibiotic use. Environmental toxin exposure. General gut health maintenance and probiotic rotation.

Why is Fido's Flora especially recommended during and after antibiotic use?
Antibiotics disrupt the entire gut microbiome — beneficial bacteria are destroyed alongside the targeted pathogens. The K9-1 and K9-2 strains in Fido's Flora are specifically selected for their ability to survive stomach acid and colonise the small intestine, making them particularly effective at repopulating the gut during and after antibiotic disruption. For general gut health maintenance, rotating probiotics is recommended — but for antibiotic recovery, Fido's Flora is the priority.
Why does Fido's Flora look dark or black?
The dark colour comes from the humic and fulvic acids — ancient mineral deposits dug from deep in the earth, which are naturally black or grey in colour. This is completely normal and expected. The dark appearance is a sign the humic and fulvic acids are present at meaningful levels, not a quality concern.
Is Fido's Flora for short-term or long-term use?
Both are appropriate depending on the reason for use. For antibiotic recovery or a specific health concern, use until the issue resolves. For general health maintenance, Adored Beast Apothecary recommends rotating probiotics — cycling Fido's Flora with Soil & Sea, Healthy Gut, or Gut Soothe to provide a broader spectrum of beneficial bacteria and support across all body systems.
Can I give Fido's Flora to my cat?
No — Fido's Flora is formulated for dogs only. For cats, see Felix's Flora, which is the feline species-specific equivalent.
Does Fido's Flora need to be refrigerated?
Refrigeration after opening is recommended for optimal freshness and probiotic viability, but is not strictly mandatory. If not refrigerating, store away from direct heat, direct light, and electronic devices. Do not store near microwaves, ovens, or in warm rooms.
