Fido's Flora is the first biologically species-specific probiotic formulated exclusively for dogs — a multi-strain probiotic blend featuring two patented canine-derived probiotic strains (K9-1 and K9-2), a 14-strain base probiotic blend, prebiotic larch arabinogalactan, and the ancient organic minerals humic and fulvic acid. The defining feature of Fido's Flora is something no other probiotic product on the market offers: two probiotic strains — Lactobacillus casei K9-1 and Lactobacillus fermentum K9-2 — that were specifically identified and cultivated from dogs, then patented. These are not generic probiotic strains that happen to work in dogs; they are strains native to the canine gut, selected by researchers for what they do uniquely in a dog's digestive system.

The K9 strains were chosen specifically to: strengthen the dog's immune system at the gut level; keep the gastrointestinal tract calm during times of stress; produce metabolites that fight against harmful bacteria including E. coli and Salmonella; improve the availability and uptake of nutrients from the diet; improve production of neurotransmitters in the brain (the gut-brain axis); and survive passage through stomach acid to work in the small intestine.

The K9 strains are combined with the same 14-strain probiotic base found in Adored Beast Apothecary's Love Bugs formula — 2 Billion CFU of allergen-free, lactic acid-producing bacteria from both Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium families. Lactic acid bacteria inhibit yeast growth by lowering intestinal pH and block the adhesion sites of pathogens, creating a barrier against infectious organisms while repopulating the digestive system with beneficial bacteria.

Larch arabinogalactan (700mg per serving) is a polysaccharide fibre from the larch tree that acts as a prebiotic — feeding and supporting the viability of the probiotic strains in this formula. Beyond its prebiotic function, larch is used as an adjunct to cancer therapies for its ability to stimulate the immune system and support the blocking of tumour cell metastasis. It also supports colon health and normal immune response.

Humic and fulvic acids (558mg per serving) are ancient organic mineral compounds dug from deep in the earth — and the reason Fido's Flora has a characteristically dark colour. They provide trace minerals, antioxidants, and phytochemicals in bioavailable form. Humic acid fights inflammation and promotes efficient food absorption. Fulvic acid increases cell membrane permeability, allowing a greater body of nutrients to enter cells, and supports the body's natural process of removing toxic minerals and heavy metals.
