Maya is a Level 3 Pawzler puzzle piece with two treat-hiding compartments and two distinct mechanisms — a lift-top lid and a sliding drawer — occupying two spots on the Base. What makes Maya distinctive is that its difficulty is not fixed: rotating it to a different position on the Base changes how hard each compartment is to access, making it one of the most configurable pieces in the range.

How It Works

Maya's two compartments require different actions. The lift-top lid opens when dogs push or nose it upward. The sliding drawer must be pulled or pushed horizontally to reveal the treat inside. Dogs must recognise that each compartment works differently and adjust their approach accordingly — the piece rewards dogs that explore rather than repeat the same action.

Rotate Maya on the Base to change the difficulty. Depending on its orientation, the drawer becomes easier or harder to access — a small positional change can significantly increase the challenge without adding any new pieces. Leaving an empty slot in front of Maya's drawer makes it more accessible; filling that slot with another Pawzle blocks the drawer and raises the challenge further.

Fill each compartment with small treats, or spread a meal across Maya and other Pawzles to slow down eating and turn mealtime into playtime.

Compatibility

Maya clips into any Pawzler Base and is compatible with all Pawzles and Bases in the range. A Base is required — Maya cannot be used without one. Maya is included in the Genius Set, the Smarty Set, and the Rainbow Set. It pairs particularly well with Terra — Maya's drawer slides directly over Terra's flat surface for a layered two-Pawzle challenge in a compact footprint.
