About the Gently Cooked Range

The Grateful Pet's gently cooked meals are prepared at 80°C, a lower temperature than conventional cooking, to retain more vitamins, minerals, and natural flavour while ensuring food safety. Each recipe contains approximately 70% meat and organs, supported by vegetables and a signature blend of functional superfoods. All recipes are scientifically formulated using a vet-developed dietary programme, meeting AAFCO and NRC nutritional standards for all life stages.

The range includes seven proteins: Cage-free Chicken, Grass-fed Beef, Crate-free Pork, Cage-free Duck, Free-range Lamb, Salmon & Sardine, and Wild Kangaroo. Each box contains 8 trays of 2 x 125g packs (2 kg total). A Cooked Mix set is also available, featuring all seven proteins in a single box. All ingredients are human-grade (with the exception of kangaroo organs, which are imported fresh from Australian meat processing facilities and meet SFA requirements). Poultry is sourced from Malaysia, game meats, lamb, and pork from Australia, seafood from Chile and Norway.

Functional superfoods in every recipe. New Zealand green-lipped mussel (joint and mobility support), reishi mushroom (immune function), prebiotic seaweed (gut health), activated curcumin (antioxidant), and spirulina (immune support). Select recipes also include milk thistle, dandelion root extract, or wolfberry. For the full ingredient breakdown, see individual product pages or the Feeding Guide.
Frequently Asked Questions

What is gently cooked dog food?

Gently cooked food is prepared at lower temperatures (80°C) than conventional cooking methods. This retains more natural vitamins, minerals, and flavour in each ingredient while eliminating common pathogens. It offers a good middle ground for dogs transitioning from ultra-processed diets, or for owners who prefer a cooked format over raw.

How is this different from The Grateful Pet's raw range?

Both formats are AAFCO-balanced and made from the same quality ingredients. Gently cooked meals are heat-treated at 80°C, which eliminates pathogens and makes the food easier for some dogs to transition to. Raw meals are uncooked and flash-frozen, preserving maximum bioavailability of heat-sensitive nutrients. Many owners rotate between both. See our Feeding Guide for a full comparison.

Are the recipes grain-free?

Yes. All seven gently cooked recipes are grain-free. No potatoes or green peas are used in any recipe.

Is this suitable for puppies?

Yes. All gently cooked recipes are formulated to meet AAFCO nutritional standards for all life stages, including growth. Suitable for puppies and kittens aged 5 months and above.

How much should I feed my dog?

Feed approximately 3 to 5% of your dog's ideal body weight per day, split across two meals. Puppies aged 5 months and above should be fed 6 to 8% of their current weight. See our Feeding Guide for detailed feeding tables.
